• Mac PDF viewing problem in Blackboard- SOLUTION (Wednesday, September 21, 2011)
  
  Recent Safari and Mac OSX updates have removed the download/viewing capability of PDF documents using Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari browsers. You can read more about this at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/908/cpsid_90885.html

  Those browsers try to use a non-existent PDF plug-in to display the PDF file. Clicking on the “Missing Plug-in” returns no results as Adobe does not release PDF plug-in’s for the Mac OSX. Google Chrome has a built-in PDF view, which correctly displays the embedded PDF file.

  Until a permanent solution is delivered by Apple, Adobe or Blackboard, you will need to use the workaround of installing a third-party PDF plug-in.

  The Schubert IT PDF plug-in is the one recommended by Blackboard Learn user community and is free for educational use. Once installed, restart the web browser and it should be activated.
